Florent Louis elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
Florent Louis, Associate Professor at the University of Lille, has been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) on August 5 2025, a professional society based in the United Kingdom with over 50,000 members worldwide.
Founded in 1841, RSC is the largest organization in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences. RSC partners with industry and academia, advises governments on policy, and promotes the talent, collaboration, innovation, information and ideas that lead to great advances in science. The designation Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) is given to elected Fellows who have made significant contributions to the chemical sciences.

Florent Louis obtained his PhD in 1997 from the University of Lille in the field of atmospheric chemistry performing both experimental and theoretical studies. After a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg (Maryland, USA), he was recruited as a lecturer at the University of Lille in 2000. His research interests concern the atmospheric degradation of pollutants and their transfer to the environment. He has been involved in the organization of the #RSCposter international conference as member of the general committee and subject chair in Environment from 2022 to 2025 and since April 2025 he is member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the RSC journal Environmental Science : Processes and Impact.
